Portland Head Light
Address: 1,000 Shore Road Cape Elizabeth, Maine 04107
Portland Head Light is also home to Fort Williams, a 90-acre park that encompasses the decommissioned and largely demolished United States Army post, which was operational during World War I and World War II. The light station is automated, and the tower, beacon, and foghorn are maintained by the United States Coast Guard, while the former lighthouse keepers' house is a maritime museum within Fort Williams Park.
The popular landmark is owned and managed by the Town of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The Park is open year round from sunrise to sunset. The award winning Museum contains a number of lighthouse lenses and interpretative displays. Also on the site is a seasonal shop featuring Maine related gifts. The area offers picnic facilities, hiking opportunities, sports and recreation areas, historic fort structures, and unlimited ocean views. Call (207) 799-2661 for details!
